ASIA Scale is a classification scale for neurologic impairment.

  • A: Complete. No sensory or motor function in sacral segments S4-5.

  • B: Sensory incomplete: sensation preserved below neurologic level, including sacral segments. No motor function preserved more than three levels below on either side.

  • C: Motor incomplete: Motor preserved at sacral segments with voluntary anal contraction, OR sensory incomplete with some motor function less than grade three more than three levels below.

  • D: Motor incomplete: Same as grade C, but motor function more than or equal to grade three.

  • E: Normal: Previous deficit, now without sensorimotor deficits. If normal on initial presentation, no grade is assigned.
